Welcome to SITA, a cultural space where the curious and lovers of India will learn the art, traditions and flavours that make the richness of this country.
SITA is a non-profit organization, registered in Pondicherry in January 2012, known as South Indian Traditional Arts Society.
This is a place to learn, practice and meet, where we aim to strengthen the connections between various cultures and create community's friendship.
A cultural space for arts and traditions in Pondicherry
This is the first centre of its kind in Pondicherry. It aims to promote Indian arts and culture through artistic activities offered throughout the year, as well as exchanges, events, exhibitions... Sita started with the will to promote and offer an interactive approach of South Indian culture, its arts and traditions. The activities we offer are adapted to a public of different cultures and ages. The project developed little by little and now explores other cultures such as Indian, French and Creole.
Cultural and artistic workshops for everyone
Different kinds of workshops and courses will allow you to get familiar with Indian cuisine, discover Ayurvedic medicine and massage, learn about Bharata Natyam and Carnatic music.
Moreover, regular classes are planned for who is interested and the persons living here: learn the guitar, take care of yourself during yoga or pilates classes. Most of the teachers speak Tamil, English and French and have good epdagogic experiences. That’s why you won’t have problems to communicate and learn from them.
In the heart of Pondicherry
SITA is a place of meeting and exchange. There, in a playful and friendly environment, your stay in India will be highlighted. The classes are taking place in a traditional Tamil house located in a quiet street in the centre of Pondicherry.
The venue allows everyone to relax before or after classes.
It is a special place to meet new persons and leave with lots of good addresses and advice. The geographic situation is allowing you to be close to you hotel or your guest house but also close to places to visit or good restaurants so you can pop in the centre at any time to get information.
You are very welcome!
